Support Needed To Defeat User Fees In
Senate
Contact Your Senators Now!
NATA has published an Action Call, encouraging all general aviation
members
to contact their two U.S. Senators in opposition to a proposed fee of
$25
per flight on all commercial and most turbine- and turboprop-powered
general
aviation flights. The fee, contained in the Senate's version of the
Federal
Aviation Administration reauthorization bill, S. 1300, was narrowly
sustained during consideration of the bill in the U.S. Senate Committee
on
Commerce, Science and Transportation on May 16, 2007. An amendment
offered
by Senators Bill Nelson (D-FL) and John Sununu (R-NH) to strip the fee
failed by one vote, 12-11.
Your help is needed to continue the pressure in the Senate to remove
this
costly provision! This fee has become a focal point in discussion of the
legislation in the Senate, and proponents and opponents of the provision
are
intensifying their efforts. This issue will once again come under heavy
scrutiny when S. 1300 reaches the Senate floor, and it is imperative
that
you educate your Senators before then regarding the impact that this fee
could have on your business!
Write your Senators as soon as possible. Please contact me if you need
additional information on this vital issue affecting General Aviation.
